The NA-28 is one of Rion’s flagship sound level meters and analyzers, offering precise measurements, an easy-to-use interface, and long-lasting battery performance.
The NA-28 is a Class I sound level meter designed for professional precision and user convenience. It features dedicated, backlit keys for easy operation and a high-contrast TFT-LCD color display for clear visibility in any environment. Users can effortlessly switch between sound level meter and analyzer modes with a single keystroke, while simultaneously viewing 1/1 and 1/3 octave band measurements.
The device offers extensive data storage via CompactFlash memory cards and seamless PC connectivity through both CF and USB Virtual Disk interfaces. With an impressive 16-hour battery life on standard alkaline batteries, it ensures long-term field usability. Advanced functions, including audio (.WAV) recording, octave band, building acoustics, and FFT analysis, are available through optional extension programs.
The NA-28 features measurements of A, C and Z frequency weightings, measurement of Leq, LeqI (Impulse Leq), LE (sound exposure level), Lpeak, SPL, Lmax, Lmin, with Fast, Slow or Impulse time constants, 5 user-defined statistical calculation of percentile levels Ln, Ttm5 (TMAX5), and Octave and 1/3 Octave Band Frequency analysis.
Measurement data is calculated and can be stored manually or automatically for a user defined measurement duration. Data is stored on an CF card for easy transfer and analysis using Excel.
Each NA-28 meter is delivered with the following:
The NA-28 sound level meter complies with the following national and international standards: IEC 61672-1: 2013/2002 class 1, IEC 61260 : 2014 class 1, ANSI/ASA S1.4-2014/Part 1 class 1, ANSI S1.11-2004 class 1, ANSI S1.11-2004 class 1 JIS C 1509-1: 2005 class 1, JIS C 1513 : 2002 class 1 JIS C 1514 : 2002 class 1

The NA-28 meter is built to be expandable and upgradable. Each unit includes Rion’s 18-month warranty. All program options are designed for easy installation through Rion’s streamlined installation process, which is both quick and user-friendly. Each option is pre-installed on CF cards, enabling users to independently install the software by inserting the CF card into the instrument and following the installation procedure. Furthermore, the same CF cards can be used to uninstall the options for installation and use on different meters, as needed.
NX-28WR is a program option that provides the NA-28 with recording functions. Using the NA-28 and NX-28WR in combination makes it possible to measure sound pressure levels together with sound pressure waveforms during frequency analysis. Since the data are recorded in uncompressed WAVE files, they can be handled with software compatible with the WAVE and analyzed.
This program option enables the possibility to perform FFT frequency analysis within a frequency range of 20 kHz and a frequency resolution of 2.5 Hz (8,000 spectrum lines). Supported frequency windows include Hanning and Rectangular.
NX-28BA is a program option used in NA-28 for simple and easy measurement of airborne and floor impact sound insulation of buildings and the reverberation time. The measurements conforming to ISO and single-number quantities can also be calculated by the main body of NA-28. Data is stored as text files. Furthermore, when used in conjunction with the waveform recording card NX-28WR, sound waveforms during measurement can be recorded simultaneously. Supports ISO 140, ISO 717, and ISO 16032 series standard.
Standard wind screen supplied with the meter.
This windscreen is designed for long-term outdoor installations. It helps to reduce wind noise and is equipped with rainproof features that satisfy the IPX3 water-resistant specifications. It is used with a microphone extension cable EC-04 series.
This windscreen protects the microphone against rain for a short period of time. The rainproof performance of this windscreen is designed to satisfy the IPX3 water-resistant specifications (up to 2 hours in a rainfall environment with a precipitation of 5 mm or less).
